What Weave is
Weave helps people in a community (a conference, a cohort, a network) find and meet the right people in it. To do that it gets to know you through a conversation, keeps a profile of you within each community you join, suggests introductions, and, when both people agree, connects you.
What we collect
- Account details from the sign-in provider you choose (email, name, and profile photo from Google, LinkedIn, or your email address). We use Clerk to handle sign-in; we never see or store passwords.
- What you tell Weave: your conversation with it, the profile it builds from that (what you're working on, what you're looking for, what you offer), anything you add to your page, and your LinkedIn or website links if you share them.
- Your activity: matches you were shown and how you answered, introductions you asked for or accepted, group invitations, and whether you said you met someone and what came of it.
- Your private notes about people you've met. These are visible only to you.
- Your network — people you add by hand, mark as someone you already know, or import from your LinkedIn connections file (names, profile links, companies, titles and connection dates; the file itself is read once and not kept). This list and your notes on it are visible only to you. The people on it are never told they're on it and are never contacted because of it; if someone you've added later joins Weave, you're told — they aren't. Weave uses it only to serve you: to avoid proposing introductions to people you already know, and to give context when you ask to reconnect with someone.
- People you both say you know — when you mark someone in a community as someone you've met or know well, only you see it. If they have marked you too, you are both told you're "woven", and only then: you can each see the other's contact email and booking link and all of their "Right now" lines, and Weave tells you both when one of you puts up a line that fits the other. Nobody else, organizers included, sees who is woven. Either of you can undo it at any time, and the other is not told. Marks made before October 7, 2026 were made under "never told", so they never count toward this unless you mark the person again.
- Where you overlap — Weave reads two members' published profile cards, "Right now" lines, headlines, projects and shared communities to describe where they meet, and shows that to each of them. It never uses private notes, conversations, what Weave remembers about you, or who you've marked.
- What Weave remembers about you: a short, living summary that Weave writes from your conversations, profiles, "right now" line, and introduction outcomes, across every community you're in, so it can get to know you over time and suggest better people. You can read every line of it under My profile, change it, remove lines (they won't come back), or switch it off entirely. Organizers never see it. When it changes in a way that matters, Weave may look for new people for you and tell you once, at most about once a week.
- Where you're based, if you add yourself to a community map — the town or city you choose (never an address; we keep the place it matched, not what you typed). It's off until you turn it on, community by community, and you can turn it off or remove your town at any time under My profile.
- Basic technical data needed to run the service (like your browser type and the time of requests). We do not use advertising trackers or analytics cookies.
How we use it
Only to run Weave: to understand you well enough to suggest good introductions, to explain those suggestions, to make introductions happen when both people agree, to keep organizers informed about their community in aggregate, and to send you the emails the service needs (an introduction request, a confirmation, a reminder). Nothing else. Every email Weave sends has a link at the bottom where you can choose to get everything, only introductions, or nothing at all; the same choice is under My profile.
Text messages. If you choose to, Weave can also text you — when someone would like to meet you, when an introduction happens, when a group you're invited to is on, the day before a gathering, to ask whether your "right now" line is still true, and — on some plans — to pass on an occasional announcement from the organizers of a community you belong to (you can turn those off on their own under My profile). This only happens for a mobile number you have verified with a code under My profile, after agreeing to receive texts; we record the number, the time, and the wording you agreed to. Replying to a text is the same as chatting with Weave in the app, and your replies become part of that conversation; if you reply to an organizer's announcement, the organizer can see that reply. Message frequency varies and message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any text to opt out, HELP for help, or remove your number under My profile. Mobile information is never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes; text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third parties.
Who can see what
- Other members of a community you share can see your profile page: your name, handle, photo, headline, links, what you've written about yourself, and your profile within that community (role, what you're working on, what you're looking for, what you offer). People who don't share a community with you see nothing beyond your handle.
- Community maps: if you turn the map on for a community, its members (and only once your profile card there is up) see a dot for you near the middle of your town or city, nudged a little so dots don't stack. A city (10,000 people or more) shows as itself. A smaller town is named only once three members on that community's map are in it; until then they see your county (if three members on the map are in it) or your state or region. You always see your own dot at your town.
- Someone Weave proposes an introduction to sees the reason for the introduction and a short description of you, so they can decide. Your email address, and your phone, WhatsApp, Signal or Telegram details if you have added them, are shared only after you have both said yes. Instagram and X handles you add are visible to anyone who shares a community with you.
- If many people ask to meet you, you can tell Weave what you'd welcome and how many requests to bring you at a time. Weave then ranks incoming requests against that, using the asker's own words and what you've said yes to before; the ranking exists only for you. The person asking sees only that their request is with you until it's a yes, a "not now", a written reply, or it lapses — never where it ranked. The line you write about what you'd welcome is shown to people before they ask.
- Organizers of a community see who has joined, aggregate statistics, who has asked for introductions and how many were accepted or declined, the introductions that were accepted and their outcomes, and the groups they've composed. They cannot read your conversation with Weave or your private notes, and they are not shown who declined whom. Two exceptions: if you pass on an introduction request and mark it as feeling off, the organizers are told who asked, what they wrote, and what you said; and if Weave ends a conversation because someone asked for something harmful or illegal, or was abusive, the organizer is told who, why, and the message that triggered it, so they can act.
- Nobody else. We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data, and we do not show ads.
The services we rely on
Weave runs on a small number of providers who process data on our behalf and are bound by their own privacy commitments: Anthropic (the AI models that hold Weave's conversations and write its suggestions; under Anthropic's commercial terms, what Weave sends them is not used to train their models and is deleted within 30 days, except content flagged for violating their usage policy, which they may keep for up to 2 years), Voyage AI (turns profile cards, "Right now" lines and your own network rows into numbers so Weave can search and rank by meaning; we've opted out of Voyage keeping or training on what we send), Clerk (sign-in), Railway (hosting and database), Cloudflare (storage for our encrypted backups, which Cloudflare cannot read), Resend (email), Twilio (text messages and verification codes, only if you turn texts on), Stripe (payments, when an organizer pays for a plan or a community collects dues; card details go straight to Stripe and we never see them), OpenStreetMap's Nominatim (looking up a venue an organizer sets, or the town or city you choose for community maps), and OpenFreeMap (the map tiles your browser loads when you open a community map, drawn from OpenStreetMap data; it receives your browser's request for the tiles, not who you are or who's on the map). We share with them only what each needs to do its job. Your data is stored in the United States.
Your data is yours
- Export everything Weave holds about you, any time, from My profile: as a Markdown document, a spreadsheet of the people you've met, or raw JSON.
- Edit your profile, your page, and what Weave remembers about you whenever you like.
- Delete your account from My profile. This removes your account, profiles, conversations, notes, your network, what Weave remembers about you, and pending requests. Introductions that already happened remain in the other person's history, the way an email you sent stays in their inbox, and organizers keep aggregate statistics that no longer identify you.
- Ask us at hello@letsweave.app for anything else, including a copy of your data if you can no longer sign in.
How long we keep it
For as long as you have an account. Pending introduction requests expire after seven days. If you delete your account, your data is removed from our live systems promptly. We also keep nightly backups so Weave can recover from an accident; each one is deleted automatically after 30 days, and a safeguard in our storage deletes any backup that reaches 45 days even if our own systems were ever interrupted. So within 45 days of deleting your account, no copy of your data remains with us.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest with our hosting provider. Backups are encrypted on our server before they are stored, with a key that is kept offline and never lives on our servers, so neither our storage provider nor anyone who got into our servers could read them; backups are never sent by email. Access to production systems is limited to the people who run Weave. No system is perfectly secure; if we ever learn of a breach affecting your data, we will tell you.
Age
Weave is for adults. You must be 18 or older to use it.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. The three promises at the top will not change.
